Southern Spain Travel Itinerary | Recommended Andalusian Cities: Seville, Granada, Ronda, and More!

Are you having trouble planning your trip to Southern Spain?
I'll tell you about some great cities in the Andalusian region to visit, such as Seville and Granada.
Where do you plan to visit when traveling to Spain?
After deciding on entry and exit from Madrid to Barcelona,
I think most travel routes will be planned towards the south of Spain.
To see the Alhambra Palace, go to Granada.
If you want to feel the age of exploration that Columbus opened, go to Seville.
To see the Mezquita, go to Cordoba,
To Gibraltar, where you can see Africa,
Nerja, the balcony of Europe,
The white village of Mijas,
Setenil, the mecca of SNS life shots...
The area where these cities are located,
That is, the southern region of Spain is called 'Andalusia'.
Today, I'd like to introduce you to some of the major cities in Andalusia!

⛰ 1. Introduction to major cities in Andalusia

Let me show you a map of Andalusia first.
You may have heard stories of people renting campervans and traveling around southern Spain.
The region of Andalusia is very large.
First, I color-coded them according to visit order.
First of all, red is the most visited place by tourists.
This should be a high priority when planning your trip to southern Spain.
Also, you can complete your schedule here in less than 4 days!
Secondly, orange is when you have about a week to spare,
Or, these are places worth visiting when you have high mobility, such as by rental car.
Lastly, the purple ones are recommended for those who have more time to spare.
By specific regional name
Granada, Seville, Ronda, Cordoba, Malaga, Nerja, Mijas, Marbella, Frigiliana,
I recommend Setenil, Jaen, Cadiz, Gibraltar, Almerda, and Huelva in that order!

🤔 2. What to see in Andalusia?

In Andalusia, you can find old towns and cathedrals in each city, as well as buildings and ruins.
Festivals held all over the country throughout the year, olive groves worthy of being the world's largest olive producing region,
The Mediterranean Sea and white villages on the hills, the intense Spanish wines that ripen,
The sadness buried in a corner of the gorgeous flamenco,
You can enjoy siestas and other activities that even foreigners can naturally join in on.
The best way to travel in Andalusia is
We are going to visit the historical sites designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
In Granada, you can see the Alhambra Palace, the Generalife Gardens, and the medieval Albaicín district.
In Cordoba, the historic center with the magnificent Mezquita,
In Seville, visit the Cathedral, the Alcazar Palace, and the Indis Archives.
In Jaén, you can walk around the ruins of Ubeda and Baeza.
Also, because it is a country where festivals are held all year round,
You never know when or where you might encounter a festival on your next visit.
If the timing is right, there are Carnivals in Cadiz during Easter week, the Pilgrimage to Rossio in Huelva, and the April Festival in Seville.
You can also enjoy some of Spain's biggest festivals throughout the year.
The Costa del Sol and Costa de la Luz are home to Mediterranean resorts.
From the beaches of Almeria to Jaen, vast olive groves stretch out.
In the Sierra Nevada of Granada, the largest ski resort in Spain,
It takes two hours to descend the longest rope.

⚠ 3. Andalusia Travel Precautions

Southern Spain borders Africa
During the summer months, daytime temperatures rarely exceed 40 degrees Celsius.
Also, there is no air conditioning at the historical site you are visiting.
If you are traveling to Andalusia, Spain for your summer vacation,
Please try to schedule your vacation for early July or late August if possible!
But if you only have time in early August, which is the hottest month of the year,
Make sure your accommodation has air conditioning, and start your visit early in the morning.
And in the afternoon, which is the hottest time, go to indoor attractions.
Escape the heat as you travel to the next city via air-conditioned trains or buses.

⚠ 4. Andalusia Travel Precautions

There is a saying in Spanish that "Spanish people don't know how to play alone."
If there's a place to gather, even strangers passing by are invited.
We stay up all night eating and talking.
So, the fact that they are sincere about food is similar to Korea.
It is also similar in that the ingredients and taste differ from region to region or household to household.
What I recommend when traveling to Andalusia is,
From braised oxtail that suits our taste to Salmorejo, a special gazpacho from Cordoba,
'Pescaito frito', fried with different fish and cooking methods,
We also recommend trying ham, olive oil, orange, and more!
